Make workplaces EV friendly – BC Hydro EV Charger rebate program for workplaces

What is an EV Charger Rebate program for workplaces?

Rebates are available to help residences and workplaces throughout British Columbia become prepared for electric vehicles (EVs). The program is funded by the Government of B.C.’s Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Low Carbon Innovation, with additional financial support from the Government of Canada. It is administered jointly by BC Hydro and FortisBC.

Pre-approval from BC Hydro is required before purchasing or installing chargers

How to get a rebate from BC Hydro?

How much does this rebate offer
Workplace owners that purchase and install eligible EV chargers could receive a rebate of up to 50% of those costs to a maximum of $2,000 per charger, and $14,000 per workplace while funding lasts. A business can apply for a maximum of four of their workplace sites, resulting in a maximum project rebate of $56,000.

Free advice and planning assistance
Up to five hours of free expert advice and planning assistance is available for workplaces looking to install EV chargers.  Specialist can help you make the best decisions for your workplace.

How they can help
In an initial consultation, advisors will collect information about the location and the employees’ charging needs, and explain different charging options. This is a high-level review, not a substitute for an electrician or electrical engineer. Advisors can also work with building managers to help them understand EV charging quotes from contractors.

If you require more than five hours from an advisor, they can provide you with additional services at an hourly rate. Request help from an EV Advisor via email.
