The Time is Now to Switch to EVs
Electric vehicles are more affordable than ever, and their popularity is increasing every year. The first thing on many people’s minds when they think about electric vehicles (EVs) is cost. Many people think that EVs are too expensive. However, over the last few years, EVs have become more affordable. In fact, the average price of an electric vehicle has fallen by almost since 2010. And EVs are expected to continue to get cheaper.
Why You Need an MJR Electric EV Ready Plan?
If you want to drive an EV or need EV charging for your workplace, you may be wondering how to get started. We’re here to help.
To make it easier, you can apply for EV Charger grants from BC Hydro and as a BC Hydro certified partner, MJR Electric will take you through each step. With this plan, you can see how much it costs to install a charging station and how much it will cost to charge your EV each month.

MJR will come onsite to complete an EV Ready Plan for your strata
MJR’s EV Ready Plan will help your strata learn exactly how many electric vehicle chargers your building’s existing electrical system can support. You’ll also get a complete cost estimate for purchasing and installing EV chargers and infrastructure to each parking stall or designated area.
The EV Ready Plan is an electric vehicle charger installation plan that costs up to $4,000. The majority of the plans we prepare cost between $3,000 and $3,500, plus GST. BC Hydro offers a 75% rebate on the cost of the plan, up to $3,000, which is applied directly to your strata. With this information, you will know the total cost to your strata and individual units, and can make an informed decision about whether or not to install EV chargers in your building.
Plan Submission
Your strata submits MJR’s EV Ready Plan to BC Hydro for approval. However, before doing so, it is important to make sure that all of the documentation and research is in order. This way, there is a higher chance that the plan will be approved and that you will be able to move forward with your project.
BC Hydro Approval
Upon receiving BC Hydro approval, your strata council will review and approve the plan based on the BC Hydro EV Ready Infrastructure rebate. Infrastructure upgrades usually include panel, breaker upgrades and load management systems, in addition to running conduit and wire to the determined stalls. BC Hydro rebates up to $600 per installed charger and up to $80,000 (133 parking stalls).
Installation
Here at MJR, we want to make sure that you have the best possible experience when it comes to electric vehicle (EV) charging. That’s why we offer Level 2 networked EV chargers, and if your strata opts for them, we’ll install them, and BC Hydro will rebate up to $1,400 per charger to a maximum of $14,000. So come see us today and let us help you get set up with everything you need to charge your EV worry-free!
Reimbursement
The strata submit the required paperwork, invoicing, and other information to BC Hydro for reimbursement. This process is made easier by having all of the information provided by MJR.
