CleanBC Go Electric rebates for homes and workplaces
In a collaborative effort between BC Hydro, the provincial government of B.C., and FortisBC, customers are able to take advantage of provincial rebates for the purchase and installation of electric car chargers. Vancouver electrical contractor MJR Electric is happy to be involved with installing EV chargers and helping Strata properties get access to EV rebates.
This program is part of the province’s CleanBC plan to make clean transportation more affordable and accessible for British Columbians. Visit Go Electric to learn more about the plan and read the full strategy.
Rebate Offers and Eligibility Information for Single Family Homes
Single family homes also referred to as a detached house come with a few perks in the EV charging world. The first and foremost of which is that a rebate of up to 50% will be on the purchase and installation cost of an eligible Level 2 EV charger. What this means is that homeowners will be able to recoup half the money they spend on purchasing and installing an EV charger which includes duplexes or townhouses with private garages or dedicated parking.
EV Ready rebates
You can apply for these rebates together to streamline the EV-related upgrades to your building, or you could apply for them one at a time as your project progresses.
EV Ready plan rebate: A $3,000 rebate for a professionally drafted EV Ready plan – a strategy designed to make at least one parking space per residential unit in your building fully enabled and operational as an EV charging station.
EV Ready infrastructure rebate: A government rebate of up $660 per parking space is increasing to build the electrical infrastructure required to implement your EV Ready plan, and they aren’t stopping there – to a maximum of $80,000.
EV charger rebate: A maximum of $1,400 to purchase and install Level 2 networked EV chargers in order to create a more convenient infrastructure for the parking garage of your company’s building.

What is an EV ready plan?
An EV Ready Plan is an important step towards preparing for a carbon free future. The amount of electricity your home consumes can soar with the introduction of EVs, but you can make sure you are prepared accordingly by making some alterations to your building’s electric supply while still having a positive impact on costs.
An “EV ready plan” is all about planning ahead to deal with future issues. Luckily a well thought out plan can take care of most problems (provided they’re executed properly, of course! Planning is only half the battle.)
What questions does an EV ready plan answer?
The key questions the EV Ready Plan will address are the following:
- Will there be more than enough electricity to meet the building’s needs?
- Is a future proofed design in the works and if so what will it cost?
- What kind of charging performance can be expected?
- How much of an incentive is available?
- Should we make any changes to our property laws based on what has been learned here?
- What should we do next in terms of further consideration?
