December 2020 BC Hydro Grants
Hello new, or old, or prospective EV owners,
BC Hydro is rolling out some huge rebates for new EV charging stations for your residence, your multi unit residence building (MURB), or your workplace. We felt it was important to update our loyal mailing list about the new limited time offers, how to become eligible for and take advantage of them.
Single detached dwellings see their rebate for an eligible EV installation increase from $350 to $700, while Standalone EV Chargers in MURBs or Workplaces see their rebate increase from $2000/ charger to $4000 per charger for eligible installations!! (to a maximum of $14,000). To see a list of eligible networked EV chargers, visit BC Hydro’s website to browse what suits your building best:

Most notable among BC Hydro’s limited quantity offers, is the new ‘EV Ready Program’ for MURBs. Long term EV charging strategy is planned, adopted, and ultimately installed: where the end result is to provide every building resident with a parking stall the possibility of access to reasonable Level 2 charging speeds. In many cases in the lower mainland, every parking stall with Level 2 charging access can only be achieved by means of an electrical service upgrade to the building, which can be quite costly for strata members to undertake. However, now with eligible ‘EV Ready’ planning and installations, the building can be awarded up to $97,000 in eligible EV rebates which significantly reduce the overall cost of the large project preparing the building for long term EV charging.
If your building or strata is interested in participating in at least the first step of planning for the future of EV charging needs, BC Hydro will reimburse 75% of approved ‘EV Ready’ Plans to a maximum of $3000. Pre-approval from strata to adopt and execute the EV Ready Plan is not required to be eligible to receive this rebate alone. For more information about this program and plan requirements, contact MJR Electric or visit :

After the initial planning step where the EV Ready Plan is accepted from BC Hydro, adoption and implementation of the EV Ready Plan is required to receive the bulk of the rebates (up to $94,000) available for your building.
If you think these incentives are a game changer, and want to take advantage of the limited time incentives from BC Hydro, contact MJR Electric to make your house, building or work ready for your EV.
Happy holidays!

NEW EV READY PROGRAM OFFER:
The EV Ready Program offer provides rebates for Multi-Unit Residential Buildings to implement EV Ready parking. What does EV Ready mean? In a MURB building, a parking space features a complete electrical circuit terminating in a junction box capable of providing level 2 EV charging. The chargers are installed in the future, as electric vehicles are adopted. The EV Ready Program provides a rebate for building owners & condominiums to develop an EV Ready Plan. The EV Ready Plan will provide MURBs with an approach to support widespread future access to EV charging for residents.
- EV Ready Plan Rebates: an EV Ready Plan provides a strategy to provide each residential unit in a MURB a least one parking space to be EV Ready. This document must be created by a licensed electrical contractor, or a registered professional electrical engineer and must address the following: electricity capacity assessment, determination of minimum charging performance requirements, charging options for parking spaces, compatible EV Energy Management Systems, EVSEs, electrical service upgrades, and cost estimates.
SUMMARY OF EV READY OFFER:
