B.C.’s EV charger rebate program includes a rebate for apartment/condo buildings to create an EV Ready plan. This plan helps to ensure that buildings are prepared to install EV chargers in the future, making it easier and more convenient for residents to charge their EVs.
The EV Ready plan rebate is just one way that B.C. is making it easier for people to switch to EVs. With this rebate, apartment and condo buildings can get a head start on preparing for EV chargers, making the transition to EVs even smoother.
What does EV Ready Mean?
EV Ready means the parking space is prepared for electric vehicle charging with an outlet that is connected to an electrical wiring installation. This installation is capable of providing level 2 charging, which is a fast charge that can recharge an electric vehicle’s battery in a shorter amount of time. The outlet must be installed within .5 to 1.5 meters of the stall, and no more than 3 meters away.
EV Ready Plan Requirements
To be eligible for the rebate, your plan must meet the program requirements. The plan can be created by a licensed electrical contractor and/or a registered professional electrical engineer.
Your EV Ready Plan must include the following elements:
- Property and Company Details
- Electrical capacity assessment—All units of measure must be kilowatt (kW)
